Matthews recorded three solo tackles, one sack, and one interception during the decisive 45-7 win over the Cowboys. He maintains the NFL lead in sacks with 10.5 in addition to 31 tackles and one interception on the year.
This is the first time Matthews has earned the award this season. The runner-up is linebacker Cameron Wake of the Dolphins (8 tkls, 8 solo, 2 sacks). Saints safety Roman Harper receives honorable mention (9 tkls, 9 solo, 1 sack).
