Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers Wins the StatSheet NFL Offensive Player of the Week: 10-04-2011

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers set a personal game high for passing yardage this season, propelling him to the StatSheet NFL Offensive Player of the Week award. Rodgers connected on 29 of 38 passes for 408 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He also pitched in 36 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in the 49-23 blowout victory over the Broncos. To this point in the season, he has passed for 1,325 yards with a 73.0% completion percentage, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions.

This is the first time this season that Rodgers has won the award. Running back Matt Forte of the Bears is the runner-up (25 car, 205 rush yds, 1 TD). Honorable mention goes to running back Beanie Wells from the Cardinals (27 car, 138 rush yds, 3 TD).

StatSheet NFL Defensive Player of the Week: Yeremiah Bell, Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins safety Yeremiah Bell had a spectacular game as he set a personal season high for tackles in a game which cleared the path for his StatSheet NFL Defensive Player of the Week win. Bell registered 14 solo tackles during the 26-16 loss to the Chargers. In total for the season, he has 38 tackles.

This is the first time Bell has earned the award this season. The runner-up is linebacker Kavell Conner of the Colts (18 tkls, 14 solo). Packers linebacker Desmond Bishop receives honorable mention (10 tkls, 9 solo, 1 sack, 1 FF). Finishing in 29th is linebacker James Laurinaitis from the Rams (7 tkls, 5 solo, 1 int).

StatSheet NFL Offensive Rookie of the Week: Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had a superb game this past week. Newton had 27 completions on 46 passes for 374 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 35 yards and two touchdowns in the 34-29 loss against the Bears. On the year, he has passed for 1,386 yards to go along with a 59.5% completion rate, five touchdowns and five interceptions.

This is the first time Newton has received the StatSheet NFL Offensive Rookie of the Week award this season. Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is the runner-up (11 rec, 127 rec yds). Honorable mention goes to Patriots running back Stevan Ridley (10 car, 97 rush yds, 1 TD).

StatSheet NFL Defensive Rookie of the Week: Ryan Kerrigan, Washington Redskins

Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan was a menace everywhere he went in his last outing. Kerrigan finished with five solo tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble during the 17-10 win over the Rams. For the year, he has 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception.

Kerrigan wins his first StatSheet NFL Defensive Rookie of the Week award this season. The runner-up is Chargers cornerback Marcus Gilchrist (6 tkls, 6 solo, 1 int). Linebacker Von Miller of the Broncos receives honorable mention (4 tkls, 4 solo, 2 sacks).
