Kansas City Chiefs Jamaal Charles Wins the StatSheet NFL Offensive Player of the Week: 11-02-2010

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was the NFL leader in rushing yardage, propelling him to the StatSheet NFL Offensive Player of the Week award. Charles carried the ball for 177 yards rushing on 22 attempts, 61 yards receiving in the close 13-10 victory against the Bills. For the season, he has run for 666 yards in addition to two touchdowns.

This is the first time this season that Charles has won the award. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson of the Lions is the runner-up (9 rec, 101 rec yds, 3 TD). Honorable mention goes to tight end Jason Witten from the Cowboys (10 rec, 97 rec yds, 1 TD). Tight end Daniel Fells was the highest ranking player from the Rams, who finished 28th (4 rec, 35 rec yds, 1 TD).

StatSheet NFL Defensive Player of the Week: Aqib Talib, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib had a spectacular game as he set a personal season high for interceptions in a game and earns the StatSheet NFL Defensive Player of the Week award. Talib recorded five solo tackles and two interceptions during the close 38-35 win over the Cardinals. For the year, he has 20 tackles and five interceptions.

This is the first time Talib has earned the award this season. The runner-up is defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch of the Lions (6 tkls, 5 solo, 2 sacks, 1 FF). Jaguars cornerback Derek Cox receives honorable mention (6 tkls, 5 solo, 2 int). Finishing in fourth is linebacker James Laurinaitis from the Rams (8 tkls, 7 solo, 1 sack, 1 int).

StatSheet NFL Offensive Rookie of the Week: LeGarrette Blount, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeGarrette Blount had the most rushing yards in the NFC last week. Blount ran for 120 yards on 22 attempts and two touchdowns in the narrow 38-35 victory over the Cardinals. So far this season, he has rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns.

This is the first time Blount has received the StatSheet NFL Offensive Rookie of the Week award this season. Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams is the runner-up (4 rec, 105 rec yds, 1 TD). Honorable mention goes to Redskins wide receiver Anthony Armstrong (3 rec, 92 rec yds).

StatSheet NFL Defensive Rookie of the Week: Devin McCourty, New England Patriots

New England Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty was a force all over the field this past week. McCourty racked up four solo tackles and one interception during the 28-18 win against the Vikings. For the year, he has 27 tackles and two interceptions.

McCourty wins his first StatSheet NFL Defensive Rookie of the Week award this season. The runner-up is 49ers safety Taylor Mays (7 tkls, 7 solo). Defensive end Lamarr Houston of the Raiders receives honorable mention (3 tkls, 3 solo, 1 sack, 1 FF). The highest ranking player from the Rams is cornerback Jerome Murphy, who finished seventh (4 tkls, 4 solo).
