Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson Wins the StatSheet NFL Offensive Player of the Week: 09-28-2010

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was the NFL leader in rushing yardage, propelling him to the StatSheet NFL Offensive Player of the Week award. Peterson carried the ball for 160 yards rushing on 23 attempts, 30 yards receiving and two touchdowns in the 24-10 victory against the Lions. For the season, he has run for 392 yards in addition to three touchdowns.

This is the first time this season that Peterson has won the award. Wide receiver Austin Collie of the Colts is the runner-up (12 rec, 171 rec yds, 2 TD). Honorable mention goes to running back Peyton Hillis from the Browns (144 rush yds, 36 rec yds, 1 TD).

StatSheet NFL Defensive Player of the Week: DeMarcus Ware, Dallas Cowboys

The most sacks in a game during this season was matched by Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware, earning him the StatSheet Defensive Player of the Week award. Ware recorded six solo tackles and three sacks during the 27-13 win over the Texans. For the year, he has 15 tackles and four sacks.

This is the first time Ware has earned the award this season. The runner-up is linebacker Tamba Hali of the Chiefs (3 tkls, 3 solo, 3 sacks, 1 FF). Titans safety Michael Griffin receives honorable mention (12 tkls, 11 solo, 1 FF).

StatSheet NFL Offensive Rookie of the Week: Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez put forth an impressive effort this past week. Hernandez finished the game with six receptions for 65 yards in the 38-30 victory over the Bills. So far this season, he has 211 yards receiving.

This is the first time Hernandez has received the StatSheet NFL Offensive Rookie of the Week award this season. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is the runner-up (3 rec, 43 rec yds, 1 TD). Honorable mention goes to Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki (4 rec, 44 rec yds, 1 TD).

StatSheet NFL Defensive Rookie of the Week: Earl Thomas, Seattle Seahawks

The game high for interceptions during this NFL season was matched by Seattle Seahawks Safety Earl Thomas. Thomas racked up four solo tackles and two interceptions during the 27-20 win against the Chargers. For the year, he has 19 tackles and two interceptions.

Thomas wins his first StatSheet NFL Defensive Rookie of the Week award this season. The runner-up is Seahawks cornerback Walter Thurmond (7 tkls, 7 solo). Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon of the Falcons receives honorable mention (7 tkls, 7 solo).
